A Good First Day

You will find our weekly theme/activity on our Facebook page under events. If you need another outlet besides Facebook we do have an event page on this website but you will need to ask for the password on the Facebook, Discord, or though the contact us form.

On each event you will also find a supply list. We have found that the least stressful way of doing supplies is for everyone to bring anything from each weeks lists they have or can easily get and share- surprisingly this always works out and we have plenty of supplies ! (Example: let’s say we need twine, glue, scissors, and beads and you have twine and scissors at home to bring and were able to grab some glue , well then bring that with no worry about not having the other supplies because others will bring the beads to share). This approach to supplies also allows us to keep our co-op free.

Under the events you will notice our start time says 10:30, but no stress about being late-homeschoolers are known for being late after all! After a few years we kind of fell into a rhythm where 10:30-11 is our optional playground time and we begin our activities sometime between the 11:10-11:30 range. I know this cn feel confusing but that start time window allows us to follow the vibes of the day and feel in the moment. For some of the kids and adults having that slow start to the co-op day allows the transition to be easier, and for others the half hour buffer allows for a less stressful morning if it is a day where you're just running late. So between 10:30-11:10 everyone trickles in,visits, drinks coffee, plays on the playground, and catches up; then sometime between 11:10-11:30 we head to wherever we are going that day to start the activity. Starting this year we will call everyone who wants to participate in the activity in with a bell! 

We meet at South Z Boaz Park for Co-op.

While the park is easy to find getting the right address can be tricky due to a closed down road in the park that maps often times takes you to and a very bumpy back route that should be avoided by most cars . It may help to avoid the addresses that often times shows for this park and instead paste the coordinates into Google Maps to make sure you get to the right place (32.6922360, -97.4523223) , 

Tip: If you don't enjoy a bumpy ride avoid entering through the entrance off of Benbrook Blvd, it is very rough on your car. Instead use the nicer paved route off of Winscott Rd . If you type in Mothers Milk Bank into your map app the entrance to the park is just right across there railroad tracks from it (on the opposite side of the road ) , you can see in the map below. Then just follow the road once you turn into the park and park in the parking lot by the baseball fields and playground.

I promise it is not as complicated as it seems 

Our on duty leadership members wear a yellow acrylic lanyard charm with a snail and mushroom on it. Feel free to find one of these members on your first day (or any other time). They can answer any questions, help plug you and your kidsin with some new friends, and just act like a buddy for you while you get settled in !
